𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 | 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍
𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐑… Sparrow is proud of her Keeper of the Moon heritage, but she has always wanted more beyond a life lived with her tribe, or so she claims. This desire of hers did manifest but, somehow, the Keeper ended up in the Northern Empty. While that is a tale in of itself, Sparrow has also since taken to traveling the realm over in an attempt to satiate her wanderlust.
𝐕𝐈𝐕𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒… Sparrow is something of a strange woman, and she isn't shy in concealing that fact. Throughout her meandering travels, she is sure to leave an impression on whomever she is to meet—especially so in the academic world of Sharlayan. There, she is something of an outlier wherein she is not one to discuss scholarly subjects or study quietly in some isolated corner of the Noumenon. If she enters the Studium for any reason—say, to deliver what specimens she has gathered—her voice will echo in the halls when asking so-and-so how they are doing. However...𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍 𝐆𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐑… She is a talented gleaner, especially when it comes to wrangling beasts and arcane entities. As boisterous as Sparrow is wont to be, she seemingly becomes a different person altogether when identifying and tracking her quarry: focused, calculating, stealthy. More than that, she adores that her work contributes to the research of both the Studium and Labyrinthos.

𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 | 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐀𝐒 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐍
𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊… In addition to her work as a gleaner, Sparrow is experienced in the collection of rare and exotic ingredients required for alchemy and similar practices. If you're an alchemist or the like that is looking to avoid a foray into dangerous areas better left to adventurers, she'll more than happily assist you—for a fee, though. She might even take you along for fun! Well, if you want.
𝐒𝐊𝐀́𝐋𝐃… If you're wandering around late at night, you may hear the melodic sound of lyre strings being gently plucked. And, along with it, the quiet voice of a woman singing in a language unrecognizable to most. Music has long been apart of Sparrow's life and, wheresoever she goes, so too does her lyre.

𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐄 | 𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋
𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀… There is something lurking just beneath the surface, deathly quiet and relentlessly watchful—like that of a great beast skulking about in the dark. In stark contrast to Sparrow's amiable and laidback disposition, a dark shadow seems to suffuse her very being, imperceptible except to those possessing keen perception. As the adage is said: "If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." Should you attempt to parse what this something is, you might find yourself perturbed for it.

Deep within the dense forests of northern Dravania, far from the tenets of civilization, live the Shoqa—a nontraditional Keeper of the Moon clan. Rather than only worship Menphina, Lady of the Moon, they also worship Oschon, her divine lover and the bearer of the Shoqa’s weapon of choice: the bow. These miqo'te are something of an unruly group, capricious and free-spirited, and they travel afield in pursuit of a practice in which they call The Moonglow Hunt. They do not select their hunt targets arbitrarily, but rather chase after entities of which have made their presences to be known as malevolent. The more challenging the battle, the more the Shoqa savor it.

values

𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐎𝐌… Though the members of the Shoqa clan often interact with peoples of other cultures when they travel abroad, they do not bother following the nuances of modern society. They are an odd sort of people that heed their whims while doing whatever they will to ensure that their lives are lived how they see fit.𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐓… The Shoqa are natural-born hunters and hold other hunters, regardless of their background, in the highest esteem should they manage to prove themselves to them. What exactly that entails is something of a mystery, but one assured method is to participate in their annual celebration dubbed the Bloodmoon. Sparrow herself had once been the individual to 'herald' this celebration, thus her nickname: Wolfsong.𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄… While the Shoqa are indeed seasoned hunters, they revere the plentiful nature that surrounds them: trees, flowers, beasts—all of it. That of which they hunt for sustenance and materials is used in its entirety and, what they cannot find a use for, they bury and thereafter pray over the grave to honor the life in which they'd taken.

practices

𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆… To those who are aware of them, the Shoqa have earned a reputation for being fearsome monster slayers. However, they do not kill at random. Rather, the Shoqa only slay creatures that are considered evil: those of which that harm for the sake of doing harm. Otherwise, they keep a profound respect for beasts and creatures, often choosing to observe, learn about, and interact with them. In fact, for being 'backwoods' folk, they've many tomes dedicated to what knowledge they've gathered.𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐌… As a tribe conditioned to living within a densely forested land, their knowledge of the collection and usage of native flora must be well-versed. The Shoqa are experts in creating herbal remedies for various illnesses that they peddle to local clans, while other plants, typically dried and bundled, are utilized for rituals or ceremonies.𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄… One of the most prized possessions of the Shoqa are their bees. The diminutive, fuzzy vilekin are diligently kept in hand-woven basket hives, and the honey they produce have myriad applications including antiseptic salves, baked goods, candies, cosmetics, and mead.𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆… As might be expected, the Shoqa tend to hunt for what constitutes the bulk of their diet: meat. However, they are also very fond of mushrooms, often gathering and then incorporating them in a broad range of dishes.𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂… At their core, the Shoqa are what Eorzeans would call bards. They are story-tellers, and they prefer to tell tales through song. Typical instruments played during their performances include drums and flutes, but their most beloved instrument is the lyre—that in particular is crafted from spruce and oak woods, and then runes specific to the lyre’s player are carved into its body.𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐒… The Shoqa’s usual waterside haunts tend to be home to freshwater mussels. While the mussels were originally incorporated into their lives as a means of sustenance, the clan also discovered pearls. Since then, they have learned to fashion accessories from them. While many of these accessories are worn by the Shoqa, some are used in barter trading with the few other Keeper of the Moon clans found in Dravania.𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒… As they have long resided within northern Dravania, the Shoqa have shed the naming conventions of their Black Shroud kin years ago. Suffixes are no longer used, and males are given their own name at birth. Along with this, while retaining something of a loose matriarchal society, males remain within the structure of the clan rather than leave to roam as solitary individuals.

physiology

𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒… The faces of the Shoqa feature haunting, silvery eyes. They are sensitive to sunlight—especially as they lead nocturnal lives—but possess superior low light vision.𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍… With dusky skinstones, the Shoqa are able to obscure themselves readily within the thick forested region they live in, often choosing to hide inside the canopies of the trees.𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐑… Hair colors of the Shoqa range from dusty brown to deep gray-brown to burnt umber. The hair texture typically maintains a slight wave and is mildly coarse to the touch.𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 & 𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒… The ears of a Shoqa resemble that which belong to felines, as is the norm for a miqo'te. Their tails are typically plush.𝐍𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒… Unlike some miqo’te, the nails of a Shoqa are not elongated but they are sharp and are regularly maintenanced to be so.𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇… The canines of a Shoqa are typical of other Keepers of the Moon. They are lengthy, narrow, and—of course—sharp.

Hello! You've reached the end, so thanks for taking a look at Sparrow's carrd. If you would like to know a little more about the player, I've included some information below.𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟
🗶 My name is Sen and my Discord is ghosthallow.
🗶 You're welcome to say hi, if you want.
🗶 I am in the EST timezone.
🗶 I enjoy crocheting, scratching behind my cat's ears, and smushing my pomeranian.
🗶 I like to read almost anything related to spiritualism, ritualism, the paranormal, and how all three have had an influence on humanity.

🗶 I tend to type in a semi-para format when I RP, but I will also reflect what is being sent to me. However, I will not accept single-liners with no substance; that really just isn't fun.
🗶 I am a 21+ RPer and I require that my writing partners and their characters are the same.
🗶 In roleplay, I want to write characters interacting with one another naturally; I want to see emotion, how it unfolds, how the characters react to what is happening to them and around them.
🗶 To achieve that, see below what I prefer to RP:

𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲
🗶 Plot-driven stories🗶 Excessive gore
🗶 Horror/dark themes🗶 Persistent slice-of-life (as in nothing else but slice-of-life)
🗶 Mature themes🗶 Persistent combat (same as the above)
🗶 Adventure (plot-influenced)

The art of Sparrow on her profile page was done by the wonderfully talented Hillectant.
